Herbal Action: adaptogen, anti-inflammatory, diuretic, glycemic modulator, immune modulator
Indications:
Regulates the HPA axis to encourage a parasympathetic state, improve resiliency to stress and to protect adrenals
Decreases withdrawal symptoms, including from corticosteroids, cigarettes, caffeine & methamphetamines
Increases energy, stamina, mood and libido
Adjunct therapy for hypothyroidism & adrenal exhaustion
Preferred Preparations: decoction, tincture
Taste: bland, bitter, slightly sweet
Contraindications: avoid use if taking antipsychotics or hypotensive meds. Monitor blood glucose levels if taking insulin. Take in the morning if effects are too stimulating.
