Herbal Action: antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antitussive, carminative, diaphoretic, expectorant
Indications:
A helpful ally for colds and flu, especially with fever, cough and/or sore throat
Topically soothing on burns, rashes, and poison ivy
Preferred Preparations: poultice, infusion, tincture
Taste: minty, slightly bitter, sweet like licorice
Contraindications: generally regarded as safe
Origin Story: we owe our knowledge to the Indigenous folk of Northern America, who also use this plant to treat melancholy and depression.
