Herbal Action: alterative, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antitussive, demulcent, expectorant, lung tonic
Indications:
Balances mucus secretions in the lower respiratory tract, soothing dry, irritated respiratory tissues and thinning mucus to help expectorate any stuck phlegm
Traditionally used to treat and recover from bronchitis, pneumonia and smoke exposure
Used longterm for asthma, wheezing, emphysema, and for those prone to lung infections
Preferred Preparations: decoction, syrup, tincture
Taste: spicy anise
Contraindications: not for use during pregnancy. Avoid longterm use with compromised liver or kidney function.
