Affinity: respiratory system, lower respiratory tract

Herbal Action: alterative, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antitussive, demulcent, expectorant, lung tonic

Indications:

  • Balances mucus secretions in the lower respiratory tract, soothing dry, irritated respiratory tissues and thinning mucus to help expectorate any stuck phlegm

  • Traditionally used to treat and recover from bronchitis, pneumonia and smoke exposure

  • Used longterm for asthma, wheezing, emphysema, and for those prone to lung infections

Preferred Preparations: decoction, syrup, tincture

Taste: spicy anise

Contraindications: not for use during pregnancy. Avoid longterm use with compromised liver or kidney function.
